2010 - 2011 Season
A Special Presentation at the Guthrie Theater
Recently we've seen capable workers lose jobs, neighborhoods lose businesses, and neighbors lose their homes. A job is more than a paycheck; it represents a sense of purpose. Businesses are cherished assets of communities. Homes are more than bricks and mortar; they are the building blocks of our dreams. Everyone has felt reverberations from this recession. Still, many have shown incredible resolve.
To honor this spirit of determination, I've selected plays that celebrate ordinary people showing extraordinary courage. Art plays an essential role in trying times: it reminds us of our humanity. With your support, Penumbra will continue to present drama that focuses our attention toward difficult issues. The stories this season promise to open your eyes as well as your hearts.
