Black Nativity – A Celebration of Family, A Celebration for the Soul…Testify! (Nov. 25 - Dec. 18) Conceived by T. Mychael Rambo and Lou Bellamy
Directed by Lou Bellamy
For 18 years Black Nativity has been a celebration folks look forward to each holiday season. Penumbra set the original shortly after the Emancipation Proclamation, a time during which many black families, long separated by slavery, were joyfully reunited as they made their way North above the Mason Dixon Line. This year we commemorate the importance of family as a sustainer of culture, history and community. This year’s Nativity will showcase the soulful voices of the Twin Cities’ best jazz and gospel singers, the stirring choreography of Uri and Toni Sands, and a focus on the heart of any community, the family. Black Nativity is a rich tradition that gives us good reason to testify! Don’t miss it!
