Black Nativity - A Homecoming
Synopsis

SETTING: The present in the home of a recently widowed grandmother.

Recently widowed and mired in the shock of her grief, Greta is resigned to letting the holiday season quietly pass, void of the joy and jubilance the holidays usually bring.

In silence and in solitude she ascends the stairs toward her bedroom where presumably she will close her eyes and attempt to forget the reality of life without her lifelong companion. She is then visited by an incarnation of spiritual strength that will not allow her to shut out the legacy her family and husband have come to expect. With this angelic force comes the real gift of the holidays, the promise to care for one another and to shore up those who need us most in times of sadness and desperation. Her family arrives, bringing Christmas along with them. Big, bright and boisterous, life fills the house to bursting and she remembers her obligation to continue on, to be the centrifugal force and original stitch that knits together one St. Paul family.
