The Kathryn Coram Gagnon Fellowship

Kathryn Coram Gagnon was a Penumbra Theatre Company member for 25 years. As an actor, writer, mentor and educator, she inspired audiences and galvanized the black community through the arts and community outreach. In celebration of her memory, Penumbra awards one fellowship per season to an emerging female African American theatre artist.
Maximum participants: 1 Fellow per year.
Candidates must be nominated by a Penumbra Theatre Company Member.

MICHELLE MILLER - 2009-2010 Recipient Michelle will be a freshman this fall. She enjoys all of the arts but is most active in dance, singing and writing. She has been dancing for fourteen years and has recently joined a competitive hip hop team. Her writing has been featured in various competitions and published in Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine. Michelle has been singing for eight years and is learning how to play piano. She has also been involved in a few school and church plays. She enjoys listening to music, working with little kids, and finding good quotes. She recently completed her first year at Penumbra Theatre's Summer Institute and hopes to inspire others as they have inspired her.
