Summer Institute Alumni Perks

Congratulations! You have successfully completed one of the most rigorous and interdisciplinary theatre arts programs in the country. As alumni of Penumbra Theatre Company’s Summer Institute you can make use the following:

• Monthly Play Labs and Reading Series
  Want to continue thinking, reading and growing together as artists? An opportunity to visit Penumbra Theatre's exciting New Play Development programs! Join us for readings in The Playground, The Gym and That's Cold, reading series offered throughout the year.
  
  
• Access to Penumbra Theatre Company Artists and Staff
  A professional theatre has many pieces to it, both artistically and administratively. If you're thinking about a career in the arts or in nonprofit arts administration, pop in and chat with our staff, create an internship or independent study and learn more from professionals.
  
  
• Open Rehearsals
  Come and watch the professional ensemble in action. You can be a part of the process from the beginning (table reading of the script) to the end (first preview). Connect with actors, directors, designers and playwrights at work in our house! (Please call rehearsal line and leave a message 24 hours before you plan to visit)
  
  
• Guidance with Monologues for Auditions
  Auditioning can be a tricky process and for returning students it will be required. We'll help you get the best audition piece together so you're prepared to audition and feel confident that you're representing your craft and talent well.
  
  
• Letters of Recommendation
  Whether you're applying to college, for a job or for an internship, Penumbra Theatre Company has seen you show dedication, community involvement, leadership, collaboration, discipline and more. It would be our pleasure to write on your behalf and in support of your future.
  
  
• Continued Networking
  Stay connected to Penumbra and your fellow activist artists! Get casting notices and invitations to special events through Penumbra Theatre Company.
  
  
• College Counseling and / or Community Involvement Opportunities
  Whether you need help with applications, or if you're looking for scholarship money, want to find a study group or just want to begin the search for a school that will give you the best education, our doors are always open.
