PENUMBRA THEATRE GENERAL AUDITION NOTICE FOR 2011-2012 SEASON

Penumbra Theatre Company will be holding general auditions for their 2011-2012 season on Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24. Equity and non-Equity actors of all ages and ethnicities are strongly encouraged to submit their materials for consideration. The auditions will take place at Penumbra Theatre located at 270 N. Kent St, Saint Paul, MN 55102.

All actors will be asked to prepare one contemporary American monologue which is 2 minutes or less. Singers are also encouraged to prepare a song to sing a capella, but this will not be required.

In Pittsburgh’s Hill District, everyone knows “Hambone,” a man driven mad by a deceitful business deal. Every day he visits Memphis’ diner where a makeshift family gathers to seek solace in simple food and familiar conversation, but ignores his obsession with the broken promise.  However, when a brash, young newcomer calls attention to the dignity in Hambone’s protest, everyone finds the courage once more to face their dreams. Two Trains Running is the inspiring story of the fight for justice and equality in 1960s America.
