Study Guides
Study Guides are now available, free of charge HERE.  Penumbra Theatre Company productions encourage and facilitate a culturally diverse and all-inclusive America by using theatre to teach, criticize, comment and model.  Our study guides are meant to contextualize thematic and social or historical elements of our productions, helping to explain our interest in the work we do and why we think it is important.  They are educational tools, reference materials and offer first hand accounts from the artists as to their experience with each production.
Penumbra's Symposium Series
Penumbra's Symposium Series partners with Hamline University to offer an in-depth discussion of the issues brought up in Sex Diary of an Infidel. Penumbra's National Tour
Penumbra's national tour of Grandchildren of the Buffalo Soldiers by William S. Yellow Robe, Jr. closed with a performance at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC and in New York City.  This Penumbra co-production with Trinity Repertory Company opened Penumbra's 2005-2006 Season with its US premiere before launching on a national tour.  The tour traveled to small towns, reservations, and major cities of the Midwest and along the Mid-Atlantic seaboard.  At each stop the response to the cast and the play was extremely powerful.  Yellow Robe said, "I've always been amazed that when we perform in different communities, some community members will come up to me and say, 'You know that's exactly what happened to my son' or 'That's what happened to my nephew' or 'That's the very issue that I'm having problems with now.'" Penumbra is extremely proud to have been a part of this important and seminal work.
