Here are a few examples of what our 2007 Summer Institute Alumni are up to today: 

Nancy is a senior at Woodbury High School and is active in the Mock Trial program and working on the Yearbook as a writer. She is also organizing students of color at her school to put on their high schools first black history play. She is applying to Winona State University, Delaware State University, and Spellman College (her top three choices).

Olivia is a sophomore at South High School and was recently nominated to attend a National Youth Leadership Forum in Washington D.C. She sings in four auditioned choirs, two at church and two at her school.

Dantarius is a sophomore currently attending the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Aritsts (SPCPA). He recently performed in History Detectives at SteppingStone Theatre for Youth Development. This summer, Dantarius is looking to attend a college program in Chicago and New York for young performing artists.

Devin is a senior at Minnehaha Academy and just completed performing in two one-act plays. He has been busy working with The Children’s Theatre Company as an artistic liaison. As a beginning playwright and artist, Devin works with other teens to read, critique and suggest new plays for The Children’s Theatre Company’s 08-09 season. He is looking to apply to Macalester, Duke, Wheaton, DuPaul and the University of Minnesota. He hopes to study theatre and psychology.

Genesis is a junior at Roseville High School. Since Summer Institute, Genesis has worked as an Intern in the Education and Outreach department as a transcription artist, documenting the voices of Penumbra’s founding company. She was also hired to run the sound board for Penumbra’s world premiere of the play REDSHIRTS, by Dana Yeaton.
