Master Class for Artists: Sound and Soul in Black Theatre with Sanford Moore

Using techniques honed during twenty years of work at Penumbra, Musical Director and pianist Sanford Moore will discuss the role of black music in culturally specific theatre and its use in character development. A unique opportunity for actors looking for more musical theatre experience, Moore will guide participants through techniques based in African American musical history and demonstrate how it tells a culturally specific story. This class is ideal for the working artist or beginning to advanced theatre students interested in building their knowledge of culturally specific musical theatre.
