Sanford MooreSanford Moore (Musical Director & Piano) is perhaps most noted as the Founder, Director, Arranger for the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble Moore by Four. He is also the Minister of Music for Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Sanford has served as musical director for many Penumbra productions including The Ballad of Emmet Till, The Amen Corner, I Wish You Love, Black Pearl Sings, The Piano Lesson, Get Ready, Blue, Black Nativity, Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Dinah Was. Other select musical direction credits include Crowns, Dream on Monkey Mountain, Triumph of Love, and As You Like It at the Guthrie Theater; Two Queens, One Castle at Mixed Blood Theatre; Co-creator of the musical revue Always and Forever, at Illusion Theater as well as When a Man Loves a Diva at The Lab Theater. Sanford’s choral experience includes pianist for Hannibal Lokumbe’s world premiere of the choral work The Spirit of Being commissioned and performed by VocalEssence and a 10 year appointment as Adjunct Professor at the U of M School of Music conducting the U of M Gospel Choir.

He has traveled extensively with his ensemble doing concerts and workshops in the US, Europe and Japan; has shared the stage with such notable jazz artists as Bobby McFerrin, Harry Connick, Jr., the late Joe Williams, Sarah Vaughn, Dizzy Gillespie and Carmen McRae.
