We Are Loved Affinity Circles
As part of our virtual event We Are Loved, we will be holding identity-based affinity circles. Led by facilitators, these breakout rooms are designed to acknowledge that based on our embodied racial experience, we may need different things at this time. We acknowledge that people of color experiencing racism might need extra nurturance and that many white folks want to continue to learn and be of help at this very sensitive time. Breakout rooms will last 30-minutes and will invite contemplation and conversation toward healing and justice.
We ask you to please self-select which one (1) breakout room you would like to attend:
Black/African Diaspora Space
This breakout room is designed for those who identify as black or of African descent, including those who identify as black/mixed race. Facilitated by Rebeka Ndosi, the room will focus on attending to grief, building resiliency, and offering resources for mental and spiritual wellness.
BIPOC Space
This breakout room is designed for those who identify as black, indigenous, or people of color, including those who identify as mixed race. Facilitated by Sun Mee Chomet, the room will focus on attending to grief, building resiliency, increasing cross-cultural solidarity especially in the wake of increased anti-Asian racism, and offering resources for mental and spiritual wellness.
Mixed Race Space
This breakout room is designed for those who identify as people of color with mixed racial heritage. Facilitated by Theo Langason, the room will focus on navigating interracial family dynamics during a racially polarized time, attending to grief, building resiliency, and offering resources for mental and spiritual wellness.
White Antiracism Space
This breakout room is designed for those who identify as white. Co-facilitated by Jay Owen Eisenberg and Sara Schonwald, the room will focus on supporting white allies/accomplices in building resiliency and capacity for embodied antiracism work, resources for continued learning, and getting tactical about how to support racial justice right now.
When breakout rooms open, you will be automatically routed to the room you have selected. We will ask that everyone participating in a breakout session please turn their cameras on. Please be sure to sign into Zoom using the same email address you have used to register for the event. If you have any trouble finding your breakout room, our technical support will be standing by.
