Whitney Blount Smith

Whitney Blount Smith is the Patron Services Coordinator for Penumbra Theatre Company. She had an integral role as a founding member of several cohorts to ignite and engage community stewardship, economic justice, and youth leadership development. Such initiatives include, Augsburg’s DEBT series, Campus Cupboard, and the Bridge for Youth’s Young Writers Program. She has led facilitations with the 2013 Imagining America consortium and the Minnesota Campus Compact, as a Newman Civic Fellow. As a performer, Whitney has taken to many stages throughout the Twin Cities to be witnessed as a poet, spoken word artist and actor. She made her professional debut with Ambiance Theatre Company as an ensemble member in the 2019 production of The Garden. She also serves as an Ambiance board member. Her advocacy is centered in racial equity, economic justice, community stewardship and youth development. She serves as a board member for Ignite: The Street Sage Project. An initiative dedicated to resourcing youth in transitional care from the foster care system and emancipated youth.
