Accessibility

At Penumbra, we strive to make performances and special events open to all our patrons. The theatre is accessible. There are no steps leading into the theatre. There are handicap parking spaces available in the Hallie Q. Brown/theatre parking lot as well as a drop off round about, curb cut-outs, and an automated door into the building. Seating is available for patrons with limited mobility. We also provide assisted listening devices and ASL performances.

When purchasing tickets, please alert the Box Office of any accommodation or assistance needed. And, if you have specific program questions or would like an accommodation not listed here, please contact the Box Office at 651.224.3180 or boxoffice@penumbratheatre.org.

Access Admission
Penumbra is committed to providing access to our main stage shows so that price is never a barrier to participation. As part of our Access Wednesday program this season, we will be partnering with area non-profits to provide low cost tickets to our Wednesday night performances. If you would like to participate as an individual or an organization, please contact Whitney Blount Smith at whitney.blountsm@penumbratheatre.org to learn more.

We also offer student discounts, with valid student ID, and senior discounts for those 62 and older.

Physical Accessibility
Penumbra has seating that is available for patrons utilizing wheelchairs or other forms of mobility assistance, such as walkers. Wheelchair and walker accessible seating is available in row G, along with companion seating. We permit one companion seat for each wheelchair seat purchased. Accessible drinking fountains can also be found in the lobby. If additional assistance is required, please let the Box Office know when ordering tickets and a staff person will be available to meet you.

Assisted Listening & ASL Performances
Hearing assistance devices are available from our Box Office, free of charge, for any performance. ASL interpreted performances are available for all mainstage shows. There is no charge for this service. Specific performances are identified on our website.

Low-vision services
Large print playbills are available from our Box Office before performances.

Service Animals
Service animals, such as guide dogs, are permitted with advance notice to assist Penumbra patrons.

ADA Restrooms
General restrooms are located off of the main lobby. These are ADA accessible restrooms but do not have automated doors.
